Wild Harvest: Mushrooms, Herbs & Forest Flavours
About this Event
Wild Mushroom & Herb Foraging Adventure
Step into the incredible biodiversity of Copeland Forest and discover the edible and medicinal treasures growing beneath your feet.
This immersive 4-hour guided hike will focus primarily on wild mushrooms, while also exploring the abundance of seasonal edible and medicinal plants we encounter along the trail. Every outing is unique as nature decides what we'll find, making each experience a new adventure.
Along the way you'll learn how to:
- Identify common edible and medicinal mushrooms.
- Recognize poisonous look-alikes and key identification features.
- Harvest responsibly using sustainable foraging practices.
- Discover edible greens, herbs, berries, roots, and other seasonal wild foods.
- Learn how to prepare and use your harvest in the kitchen.
Depending on the season and what nature provides, we'll prepare and enjoy a simple foraged tasting or meal together, incorporating the wild ingredients we've gathered along with a few complementary ingredients brought from the market. If the forest is less generous that day, you'll still leave with plenty of knowledge, identification skills, and inspiration for future foraging adventures.
Whether you're completely new to foraging or looking to expand your knowledge, this hands-on experience will deepen your connection with the natural world and help you see the forest through a whole new lens.
