The Haverhill Garden Club and Team Haverhill announce “Wild About the Edible Avenue!”
Join Russ Cohen – naturalist, environmentalist, and wild foods enthusiast – on Tuesday, June 23, 2026 from 4-6 p.m. at Riverside Park in Haverhill for a ramble along the Edible Avenue, Eco-Labyrinth, and adjacent areas of Riverfront Park.
Russ will guide visitors to the “edimental” plants along the Edible Avenue and highlight more than 20 species of edible wild plants along the Merrimack River, offer keys to identifying them, and provide information on which portions are edible, in which seasons they’re available, and how to prepare them, as well as guidelines for safe, ethical and environmentally-responsible foraging. He will also share samples of wild edible goodies made with foraged ingredients. We may even get to try out some of our very own Edible Avenue Juneberries (aka Serviceberries, Amelanchier spp.) if the fruit is ripe!
