Wikicurious: Windy City on Wikipedia is a community editing event on Friday, October 2 from 2pm - 6pm at UIC's Daley Library, focused on Open Text, Public Knowledge, and . Participants will work collaboratively to create and improve articles related to local history, cultural landmarks, notable individuals, events, and community institutions.
Hosted by Wikimedia NYC, Wikimedians of Chicago User Group, and WikiLatinos, this beginner-friendly event welcomes newcomers and experienced alike. Participants will receive training on how to edit Wikipedia.
Wikicurious is a beginner-level series that trains participants how to edit and participate on Wikimedia platforms. Wikicurious started in 2024 with events throughout NYC and has since expanded nationally. Wikicurious is supported by Craig Newmark Philanthropies.
IMPORTANT: Attendees will need a Wikipedia account in order to edit. Create your Wikipedia account in advance of the event by . NOTE: Wikipedia usernames are public. It is recommended to use a pseudonym or nickname for your username, rather than your real name.
