CYANOTYPES WORKSHOP - with Ziru Mo

In conjunction with the group exhibition “Wide Open,” Signa is pleased to host a cyanotype workshop led by artists and photographer Ziru Mo. This hands-on, two hour session introduces participants to the historic cyanotype process from start to finish.

With all materials provided, attendees will learn to mix the photosensitive chemicals, coat their own papers, and create exposures from found objects. Ziru will guide the group through the final steps of developing and finishing each print.

The workshop is limited to 8 participants per session. Each participant will leave with at least one completed cyanotype prints of their own making.

WIDE OPEN features film photographers in Sacramento whose practice in film photography incorporates experimental subjects, processes, or approaches to film. From emerging photographers to experienced professionals, our artists will explore their practices and provide hands-on examples from their practice alongside our gallery installation.

MUSIC

Our gallery reception will be accompanied by a vinyl DJ set by Satapana Bukthen, a local artist and friend of the shop.

We are also hosting a debut set weaving through experimental jazz, downtempo minimalism, and left-field ambient soundscapes. Chelsea shares some of her favorite selections live in an intimate mix, curated specially for Signa.

Satapana has volunteered his equipment for open decks into the evening, so bring your own records and join the show!
