Why We Click: Understanding Personality Differences at Work
About this Event
Practical ways to understand different personalities, improve communication and build stronger working relationships.
Date: Tuesday, 17th November 2026
Time: 12.30-1.30 PM
Duration: 60 minutes
Why do you click with some colleagues, while even a simple conversation with others feels like hard work? Different motivations and communication styles can influence how we work together, respond to feedback and handle disagreements.
In this interactive Lunch & Learn, Alicia Dunams Hopkins, author of How to Talk to Your Enemies and speaker of the TEDx talk of the same name, will explore the patterns that shape our workplace relationships.
Alicia will introduce the Enneagram, a personality-typing framework, as a tool for reflecting on your own motivations and considering other perspectives. Through discussion and practical exercises, you’ll explore ways to communicate more clearly and navigate differences with greater understanding.
You’ll learn how to:
- Recognise motivations and communication styles that influence workplace relationships
- Reflect on your own patterns and responses during challenging conversations
- Understand why colleagues may approach the same situation differently
- Adapt your communication to connect with different personalities
- Approach disagreements with curiosity and clarity
- Build stronger working relationships across differences
Whether you’re a founder, freelancer, business owner or team member, you’ll leave with practical tools to help you navigate difficult conversations and work more effectively with others.
