Author and natural science illustrator Giselle Clarkson in conversation with Claire Concannon, host of RNZ's Our Changing World podcast. 🔎🌏Natural history illustrator and author Giselle Clarkson has a love for the little things. In this conversation with host of RNZ’s Our Changing World podcast, Claire Concannon, Giselle will talk about why the little things matter, how to develop or maintain a childlike wonder for the natural world and why that’s a good thing. From her perch at the intersection of art and science, Giselle’s experiences, sense of humour, and love for the natural world may just inspire you to love the little things too.

🎙Giselle Clarkson is an award-winning author, illustrator and cartoonist living in South Wairarapa.
In 2023, she was made an Arts Foundation Te Tumu Toi Laureate, receiving the Mallinson Rendel Illustrators Award for an outstanding contribution to New Zealand children’s books. Giselle blends humour with detailed observation and a bold immediacy to achieve her signature style. She is a regular contributor to the NZ School Journal, NZ Geographic magazine and children’s literature website The Sapling, and once experienced viral success with an illustrated poster of NZ baked goods. Her bestselling non-fiction book The Observologist: A Handbook for Mounting Very Small Scientific Expeditions (Gecko Press, 2023) is her first as both author and illustrator, and has been translated into four languages.
🎙Dr Claire Concannon is the host of Radio New Zealand's Our Changing World. She is a a biochemist, science communicator and self-confessed podcast nerd.
