11 February, 7-8 pm, Yorkshire Museum A landmark lecture by Thomas Hughes, Professor of Biosciences at the University of York St John
WHY CAN'T WE CURE ALL CANCERS?
Chemotherapy doesn't always work as well as it should. For one thing, some non-cancer cells actually PROTECT cancer cells, making treatment is less effective. For another, delivering chemotherapy through the bloodstream can cause harmful side effects.
A team led by Professor Hughes is working on new ways to tackle both of these challenges, pointing the way to personalised therapies that target the specific requirements of the individual and their cancer.
In this landmark lecture, Tom will describe the exciting advances already made by his team and his hopes for the future.
