Whole Body Choir

The Whole Body Choir is a communal improvised vocal practice. We honor that voice is an extension of breath and breath is key to our embodiment. Breath tone and voice tone carry and communicate emotional resonance. By bringing awareness to these tones, and where in our body they emulate from, we become more fluent in our own body’s language. We invite and honor the feelings in our cells, we open with curiosity as these feelings resonate through our exhales. We root into ease instead of effort, practice softening instead of pushing through. We cultivate a direct relationship with the energetic quality of our sound, its resonance in our bodies, and the participation of our whole body in our vocal expression. We welcome dissonance and harmonies. You are invited to release into this communal chord, be washed by the waves of these frequencies and infuse this sound with your intention. We pendulate awareness between our own expression and the embodied experience of our collective expression. We begin with a guided embodiment meditation, locating and breathing into the many diaphragms in our human bodies. We close with savoring and rest. Deepening our felt sense of belonging, we will harvest our gifts together.

Who is it for?

This event is for everyone with a voice who feels called to explore and strengthen their relationship with their voice. You do not have to be an experienced singer. This is not about singing well, pretty, or in the “right” way. This is a space and place of discovery, remembrance, embodiment and collective liberation.

This Whole Body Choir is a benefit. We are practicing MUTUAL AID. All proceeds will go to Mel and her recovery from cancer. Be as generous as your heart wants to be.
