About this Event
‘Levelling Up’ was a key priority of Boris Johnson’s premiership. With his departure, it looks possible that this mission may become less of a priority for a new conservative leader. Yet, in the grip of the cost of living crisis, tackling deep seated regional inequalities becomes ever more urgent, requiring long term intervention. Is there now more space for Labour to create its own version of Levelling Up? How might this differ from the existing Conservative vision?
Join Onward and Labour Together at Labour’s 2022 Conference for a cross party discussion to explore why Levelling Up must remain any future government’s priority and which party is best placed to continue this vision?
Speakers:
- Lisa Nandy, MP for Wigan, Shadow Secretary of State for Levelling Up, Housing and Communities, Founder Centre for Towns.
- Danny Kruger, MP for Devizes, former Parliamentary Private Secretary for Levelling Up, Housing and Communities, Co-Founder New Social Covenant Unit
- Julian Coman, Columnist, The Guardian
- Will Tanner, Director, Onward
- Chair: Jen Williams, Northern England correspondent, FT
