A walk in the woods to learn to read the signs left behind by woodland creatures. Learn how to make a plaster cast of a paw/hoof/foot print.
About this Event

Join GSAB's Nature Recovery officer Antoine Lemaire for a guided walk in the wet woodlands at Knockshinnoch Lagoons outside New Cumnock. Together we will explore the woodlands looking for creatures and the signs they leave behind. Feeding signs, scat, footprints, sounds, feathers and hair. On the walk we will learn how to create a plaster cast of a hoof, foot or paw print (if we find some!).

Parking & Meeting Point: We will meet at the Knockshinnoch Lagoons parking.

Accessibility: During this walk we will follow animal tracks and runs which will take us off the beaten track. This means we may have to negotiate low branches, steep terrain, muddy patches etc.

What to bring:

  • Clothing for the weather
  • Suitable footwear with a good tread
  • Your lunch if you feel you will need it!
  • Questions and curiosity
  • Walking stick if you need one

Tickets are free but we have a Donation Ticket option on the booking page, and we are grateful for any and all contributions. These help our charity sustain its year-round event programme across SW Scotland's UNESCO Biosphere.
