Celebrate Whitsuntide with a free evening of choral and instrumental masterworks at one of Houston's most beautiful historic spaces.The Choirs of Christ Church Cathedral — led by conductor Robert Simpson and organist Valentina Huang — present a program spanning four centuries of sacred and folk music, from the imperial grandeur of Haydn's Vienna to haunting Russian folk songs, Renaissance polyphony, Acadian melody, and dramatic Mozart organ writing.
The evening culminates in Joseph Haydn's electrifying Missa in Angustiis — the Lord Nelson Mass — one of the great choral masterpieces of the Western canon.
