Out Our Front Door is excited to work with Friends of the Forest Preserves. Join us for a chill paced day ride from Oak Woods Cemetery to Dan Ryan Woods where we will complete a three-hour workday to cut and burn brush, collect and spread seeds, conduct trail work, and more (exact trail restoration activities depend on time of year and current trail maintenance needs).
We will meet at the entrance to Oak Woods Cemetery on E 67th street at 8:45 am. We are heading out on bikes at 9:00 SHARP to complete a 7-mile ride to Dan Ryan Woods. The workday lasts until 1 pm. Afterward, we have an optional hangout to get lunch and a drink.
If you can’t make the ride, but want to volunteer for the workday, meet us in the parking lot near 91st and Hermitage in Chicago.
What to bring: Your bike in good working order, a spare tube, a bike lock, water, a snack, and gardening gloves if you have them. There will be some work gloves available at the site. Long pants are recommended.
