OVERVIEW: In 2024, an estimated 2 million people in the U.S. will be diagnosed with cancer according to the National Cancer Institute. As cancer care evolves with new treatments and technologies, it's crucial that healthcare facilities are designed to meet the needs of both patients and the medical teams caring for them. Modern cancer treatment centers must not only focus on essential medical functions like diagnosis and treatment but also create environments that support patient comfort, well-being, and better health outcomes.
Designing these spaces requires considering the latest advances as well as accommodating the unique needs of different patient groups and the individuals within those groups. Additionally, flexibility for future growth and changes in treatment options is key. Our presenters – both architects and leaders in healthcare design, will explore the best ways to develop ideal cancer centers: state-of-the-art cancer care facilities that enhance both the patient experience and clinical care.
