About this Event
Join us for our first cocktail class of the year and explore the history of rum, from Colonial tavern to the mid-century modern tiki bar. In an arc of drinking traditions lasting over 300 years, rum has gone in and out of favor — loved and loathed. Learn why rum has been called "the history of America in a glass" while making and sipping 3 historic rum drinks. Enjoy a taste of the tropics on a wintery Sunday afternoon.
Hogwash Whiskey Den's master mixologist, Simon, will guide you through the ingredients with mixology lessons on using the barkeep's tools and techniques. Raising the Bar's resident historian, Renée, will illuminate the stories and history behind the rum's rollercoaster ride through America's drinking traditions.
Tickets are $75 per person. Your ticket includes:
- Three crafted drinks
- Mixology and history lessons
- Appetizers
- A cocktail recipe booklet
Class includes a bartending station for each pair of guests, fresh-made and prepped ingredients, and vintage glassware. Shake, stir, and sip in style as you deepen your knowledge of cocktails and develop your palate.
MUST BE 21 and over. The class is limited to 30 guests.
ALLERGY ALERT: One of the drinks contains cinnamon. Please get in touch with us if you have an allergy so we can have an alternate drink.
If you have questions, please email Renée at [email protected].
