Welcome to NYC Skeptic’s “Skeptic Dinners,” a series of events facilitated by Prof. Massimo Pigliucci(https://figsinwintertime.substack.com/), a philosopher and biologist at the City College of New York. The idea is similar to that of the Ancient Greek symposia(https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Symposium): let’s get a small number of like-minded people together over drinks and food and discuss interesting subjects!

To be skeptical means, literally (from the Greek root of the word) to be an inquirer, to keep an open mind and strive to adjusts one's beliefs to the evidence. But of course skeptics are human beings, so sometimes we get things wrong, occasionally spectularly so. At this dinner we'll examine some of the most common myths among skeptics and why we should do our best to correct them.
