How do we speak when words are dangerous? In honour of Holocaust Memorial Day, a space for quiet reflection on atrocities past and present
About this Event

Join RENS, HMD North Somerset and RWNS for to explore some of the difficult questions raised by current global conflicts.

How do we resist the weaponisation of identities and the dehumanisation of whole populations? It is so easy for grief, horror and fear to turn to anger and hatred, providing us with justification for turning away from horrors we don't know how to acknowledge.

It may feel harder to mark Holocaust Memorial Day this year, at a time when Israel is being accused of genocide, but silence allows hatred to flourish.

How do we see beyond global and national narratives to the consequences for our friends and neighbours?

How do we move beyond notions of right vs wrong to more nuanced understandings? How do we find the words we need and the courage to speak?

This evening will have no agenda. It will just provide a quiet space for thoughful conversation and shared feelings.

A vegetarian/vegan supper will be provided from 5pm.
