Since forever every year on the 2nd Sunday in July the whole street of Beach Blvd turns in to a huge yard sale. This has been happing as long as I can remember and we be up at 5 am and at the beach strip by 6am. The bargains we would find, the questions could it fit in the car, the haggling it was a thrill we looked forward to every year, and I am proud to say I have now shared this with my own family although it looks a little different than it use to it is still an exciting adventure.
But what most people don't know is that in the middle of this 3K yard sale is a small hall owned by the Hamilton Beach Rescue Unit.
They offer Parking for $5. but you can use the bathrooms or take a rest in the halls A/C for free. Or if you need a drink they have a small bar with drinks available. We are joining forces this year and we will be selling donuts on the right side of the building. Come out buy some donuts, shop for junk you don't need. Or call the hall and ask Ed the booking manager for a spot out front to set up and sell your junk. Booking is made through phone calls only and please give Ed 24 hours or so to get back to you. 905-961-3146
The Hamilton Beach Rescue Unit is a 100% volunteer non-profit organisation providing marine search and rescue services on Western Lake Ontario for over 65 years. The name traces it's history back to when the Beach neighbourhood was not yet a part of Hamilton. Today they work in close cooperation with the City of Hamilton’s emergency services and operate under the auspices of the Canadian Coast Guard Auxiliary.
