Bread was the foundation of the English diet. Cheate bread, a type of whole grain bread commonly eaten by the English middle class, would have been a familiar staple to the Pilgrims. Learn how to bake this hearty 17th-century bread in our wood-fired oven, and then make your own butter to slather on top! Part of the What’s Cooking? Series.
