Vanguard Theater Company proudly presents the Tony Award–nominated and Pulitzer Prize finalist play What the Constitution Means to Me by Heidi Schreck.Equal parts theater, history, and civic conversation, this powerful and unexpectedly funny play blends personal storytelling, humor, and debate to explore how the United States Constitution has shaped the lives of generations of Americans — and how its meaning continues to evolve today.
Starring Montclair’s own Doreen Oliver, a nationally recognized storyteller known for her emotional honesty, humor, and cultural insight, this production brings one of the most important plays of our time directly to our community.
Directed by Dana Iannuzzi, whose work centers intimate, thought-provoking storytelling, this production invites audiences not just to watch — but to reflect, question, and engage.
The role of the Debater will be performed by a rotating group of talented young actors from Vanguard’s pre-professional Dream VTC program, highlighting the next generation of artists emerging from our education programs.
