What is old... is new again?
For the true seeker, great truths, beauty and spiritual inspiration can be found in many of the practices and teachings of the indigenous peoples of the world, as well as in other belief systems and mystical paths such as Celtic, traditional African, Pacific Islander and others. But are all these diverse and ancient truths in conflict with one another or is it possible there is an underlying harmony uniting and connecting them? And what about the more “modern” world religions such as Christianity, Buddhism, and the Bahá’í Faith? Connected in spirit if not in form, what can they tell us about humanity’s spiritual journey in the distant past, in current times, and even into the future?
“The All-Wise Creator of earth and heaven has from the beginning which has no beginning sent to His peoples Divine Messengers to guide them to the Straight Path. These Wise Ones have come to establish the unity of the Kingdom in human hearts.” – The Bahá’í Teachings
In a conversation that is free and open to all, we will explore together the perspective found in the Bahá’í Teachings that God, the Great Spirit, the Creator and Supreme Being, known by many names by differing peoples down through the Ages, has never left humanity without spiritual guidance, and that a continuous series of divine teachers or “Manifestations of God” have been sent to us – some of whose names are known but with many more unknown – all for our material and spiritual education. These divine luminaries of the past have worked in unison helping to shape human history, just as new teachers will continue to emerge in the future to illuminate our path forward.
“Thus there have been many holy Manifestations of God. One thousand years ago, two hundred thousand years ago, one million years ago the bounty of God was flowing, the radiance of God was shining, the dominion of God was existing.” – The Bahá’í Teachings
What to Expect?
After a brief introduction, we will examine a short selection of readings from the Bahá’í Writings as a jumping off point for what is sure to be a lively discussion on the continuous spiritual guidance provided to humanity and how a deeper understanding of the rich diversity of our spiritual traditions can help shape our collective journey forward. We will also have some time together to explore more deeply the Bahá’í Teachings, so join us with your questions, thoughts, and a desire to connect with others in your area who want to explore this topic as well!
*** This event is free and open to all regardless of background or belief. Donations will not be accepted.
