WHAT MY HOMETOWN MEANS TO ME: NOTTS POETRY
Workshop at the Cock and Hoop 2.00 to 4.00 pm Sunday 14 June 2026
We are currently working on a project to look at how people across the East Midlands feel about their local community and how it has changed over the past decade.
We want to know what makes your city special?
· What are the places, rituals and institutions that make you feel at home? How have they changed in the age of the internet?
· Are the generations closer together or further apart as more teenagers go to university and move away from home?
· Are town centres welcoming, exciting, spontaneous, beautiful places or are they desolate, scary, daunting or simply irrelevant
· Where can you go on a Sunday afternoon – or is Sunday no different from any other day of the week
Tell us in your own words in a poem or short story (300 word limit) or send us your photos or artwork.
We are running workshops in Nottingham, Lincoln and Northampton and online and welcome contributions from all age groups. Spaces are limited so please book on Eventbrite or signup using the link below to join our mailing list
Our aim is to bring out a pamphlet for each county and a book which showcases the best (and worst?) of life in the East Midlands – estimated publication date Spring 2027
