About this Event
The work of an Appraiser is integral to all object-based career pathways. Art Historians, Curators, Gallerists, Historians and beyond, must understand how art and objects derive their value and how value is determined. Relatedly, pursuing a career as an Appraiser offers exciting ways to engage a variety of skill sets and interests.
During this introductory workshop, participants will learn from a leading appraiser of the International Society of Appraisers, Genice Lee.
Ms. Lee will introduce and answer questions on topics such as:
• How to conduct object research
• How an object’s condition relates to its value
• How value is tracked and recorded
• How valuation varies depending on the object or media
• The evolution of the appraisal industry
Participants will also learn about the International Society of Appraiser's Winter 2023 online Core Course in Appraisal Studies, for which six students will receive a full tuition scholarship to complete.
This workshop will be offered on Thursday, November 3rd and Friday, November 4th and is for Clark Atlanta University, Morehouse College and Spelman College students only! THIS IS A PRIVATE WORKSHOP AND IS NOT AN EVENT OF THE HIGH MUSEUM OF ART, FOR MUSEUM EVENTS VISIT: https://high.org/high-events
