Synopsis

Clearly society’s tolerance for incidents at a Nuclear Power Station is very low. Luckily, these incidents are far and few between. But we are frequently subjected to the impacts of IT disruptions. So it is probably good that Nuclear Power Stations are not built like many IT systems. While IT disruptions may not be as catastrophic as a Nuclear incident, it is clear that the cumulative impact of IT incidents is rapidly increasing, and society’s tolerance is decreasing. It is becoming unacceptable to merely recover the IT services after a disruption. Just like with Nuclear Power Stations, IT services need to be able to anticipate/avert and/or withstand disruptions. Organisations need to be developing and providing Resilient IT services. In this presentation I share practical examples on how to achieve this.
