What Does America Want From Its Foreign Assistance Program?
About this Event
The past year has witnessed deep and dramatic changes to the U.S. foreign assistance program. Coming at a time of strategic challenges from global peer competitors, these changes have generated intense, and often intensely partisan debates about how U.S. foreign assistance should function now and in the decades ahead.
On Wednesday, July 22, the Institute for Indo-Pacific Security (IIPS) will unveil a timely new report addressing those questions. The report "What Does America Want from Its Foreign Assistance Program?: Strategic Options and Policy-Leader Priorities in a Time of Peer Competition and Partisan Discord," by Laura Pavlovic, Ramsey Day, and James Kunder draw on interviews with a bipartisan group of more than 30 leading experts on U.S. foreign assistance. The report offers answers and suggests focused Congressional actions.
The event held at the Capitol Visitor Center will include a presentation by the authors describing the report’s approaches and conclusions followed by a bipartisan panel.
