Wex Workshops: Classical Portraiture with Stephanie Thornton | Leeds
About this Event
Join us at Wex Leeds and learn how to create strong, timeless portraits that go beyond simply photographing what someone looks like and begin to tell us something about who they are. Limited to 10 places.
In this hands-on workshop, Stephanie will explore the ingredients that make a powerful classical portrait, looking at how lighting, posing, expression, styling and composition can all be used intentionally to create images with character and depth.
We’ll look at how subtle changes in lighting and direction can completely change the mood of a portrait, and how to work with your subject to create something that feels natural, considered and connected rather than overly posed.
Stephanie will demonstrate the process with a live portrait shoot, talking through her lighting choices, direction and decisions as the portrait develops.
Then it’s your turn to photograph the model yourself, putting those techniques into practice and creating your own character-led portraits.
