Wetland Maintenance

As fires and large storms become more common, wetlands are becoming more important to protect by preventing and reducing erosion. While wetlands can be self sustaining, during establishment they require maintenance, and said maintenance is simple and easy to learn and enact.
Learn about a maintenance project occurring in Los Alamos and how you can do small and larger things to help local wetlands and prevent erosion.
Before preforming maintenance, it's best to get landowner permission before building one rock dams, media lunae, and berms.
About the Presenter:
Aislinn Marshall is a senior at Los Alamos High School and a Girl Scout working on her Gold Award.
Read about Aislinn's work in our 2026 Spring Nature Notes.
