Wetland Discovery Tour

Our wetland nature reserves are some of our most complex to manage; where natural processes would once have controlled water levels, we must now do this manually whilst considering lots of other factors including the weather and breeding seasons.

This walk will take you deeper into the reserve, so good, waterproof footwear is essential and a good level of fitness too.

What to bring/wear

Our events mostly take place outside so brace yourself for the Yorkshire weather! We'd recommend sturdy and waterproof footwear, and lots of layers! If it's a hot day, remember a hat and suncream! Binoculars are a must if you have them.

Insect repellent is highly recommended during the months of May-Sept.

Toilets and catering

Toilets available in the visitor centre only. The cafe will be open until 3.30 and selling hot food until 2.30pm. Feel free to bring a picnic and eat that on one of the many benches around the reserve. Only food bought at the cafe should be eaten in th ecafe or on the veranda.

Additional information

Admission to Potteric Carr is not included in the ticket price. If you are a member of Yorkshire Wildlife Trust, admission is included in your membership.
