Wet Felted Landscapes

Wet Felting is easily achievable for beginners, and involves the manipulation of pure wool roving tufts to form felted pieces of art. If you would like to experience the creative technique of felting, join Victoria for a day of squidging wool tops to make a felted landscape panel.

In this workshop there will be plenty of time to plan and produce your felted piece, and you can work from your own image of a favourite scene, or follow Victoria’s examples.

Victoria will demonstrate all of the steps involved in making a felted landscape. We will also look at the many possibilities that the felted panels can be made into as useful objects.

Choose from Victoria’s extensive stash of luxurious pure wool tops in a wide variety of colours, mainly from Merino wool, Blue Faced Leicester, and Cheviot fleeces.

Victoria will also demonstrate simple hand embroidery techniques to make your felted piece as rustic or as decorative as you might like. The hand embroidery element is optional, and it is possible to make felted landscapes without embroidery, but it does provide an attractive finish.

The workshop is achievable for complete beginners, and all materials are included. If you have any materials, threads or embellishments that you would particularly like to use, this is very much encouraged.

If preferred, it is possible to make an abstract felted piece instead of a landscape.

The workshop involves the use of olive oil soap, and roving wool tops from various sheep. Please dress accordingly, as there will be a lot of soap and water involved. For anyone with difficulties with mobility or dexterity, assistance can be provided in the felting part of the lesson.

Artist bio:

Victoria Merness is an artist, teacher, and designer. Victoria holds an MA in Contemporary Fine Art, and whilst her creative business focus is on designing embroidery kits for Little House of Victoria, she also specialises in textile art, mixed media, painting, and printmaking. Victoria’s personal practice often combines paint, print, and stitch, and is autobiographical with familial themes.

Victoria loves to encourage the enjoyment of making, with a strong focus on progression over perfection.

As materials and equipment are ordered in advance, we regret that refunds cannot be offered less than 7 days before the workshop date. Please note that Eventbrite’s booking fee is non-refundable.
