As close to a rainforest as you can get in the Gulf, surrounded by emerald pools, quaint Omani villages, lush green plantations, and deeper into the canyons than you’ve been before! We’ll trek along aqueduct walls shaded by date palms, take dips in cool mountain springs, explore old villages of mud-brick homes and palm-frond roofs, and walk on the wildest side to a world lost in time!
Known for its hidden cave with rushing waterfall and cliffside trails to and through deep emerald pools, Wadi Shab is an adrenaline rush, with locals jumping off high bluffs doing flips on the way down, caves accessed through eye-of-a-needle passageways, and scrambling trails around massive boulders, it’s adventure seekers paradise!
Trekking Wadi Tiwi is like stepping into the past, with mud-brick villages along the canyon, lush green plantations of date palms and bananas, ancient man-made aqueducts winding between houses and high stone walls, and the Hajar mountains looking down from above. With even more emerald pools to get wetter and wilder, it’s no wonder this is Heaven on Earth hidden in a canyon!
Let’s get wet & wild!!
Day 0 // Departure to Muscat
Short one hour flight to Muscat, immigration clearance, drive to Wadi Shab, overnight camping at the beach.
Day 1 // Wadi Shab
After breakfast, we’ll greet the goats, take a puddle jump over the creek, and start our trek into the wadi. Along the way we’ll take a dip or two to cool off, make some echoes in the canyons, and reach the first set of pools after an hour. It’s time to start getting wet on our way to hidden cave and waterfall! We have a little further to go up the canyon, although you can chill here in the pools until it’s time to head back out.
After a quick change and refresh, we’ll head to our campsite along the coast, take in the evening light before sunset, campfire barbeque, and stargazing from the beach before resting for the night. Overnight camping at the beach.
Day 2 // Wadi Tiwi
After breakfast in camp, we’ll hop back in our 4x4’s and head down the road to Wadi Tiwi. We’ll go even deeper into the wadi, past quaint Omani villages and lush green plantations, dive deeper into emerald pools and take a walk on the wild side of Tiwi’s hidden gems, you’ll think time has stopped.
At some point we have to come back to the modern world and start our drive back to the city. If there is time, we’ll stop at Bimah Sinkhole for an Instagram selfie and maybe pop into the Souq in Muscat for some frankincense and Nizwa pottery before heading to the airport for return flight to Dubai.
