About this Event
The project will transform 11.76 miles of streets in the heart of South Los Angeles with a focus on 4.5 miles of pedestrian and transit rider improvements on the Western Avenue corridor from Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd to the north, intersecting the 10-mile east-west Metro Rail-to-Rail Active Transportation Corridor at Slauson Avenue and continuing south to Century Blvd. Adjacent local streets, Denker Avenue, two blocks to the east, and Gramercy Avenue, two blocks to the west, will be transformed into critically needed neighborhood bike network streets with traffic calming.
The City needs your input on how the corridor can support slower vehicle speeds and be a more pleasant place to walk and bike. We are hosting a community workshop where you can learn more about different improvement options previously requested by the community, such as bus shelters and speed humps, and share your preferences.
This workshop will start with a presentation from the project team, followed by time for attendees to provide input through interactive boards and discussions with staff. Finally, we will regroup to answer your questions and hear any additional comments.
You’re the expert in your neighborhood, and we’d love your feedback!
