About the Movie: Join us for a special screening of English Vinglish.
English Vinglish is a heartfelt and inspiring film that follows the story of Shashi, a kind and hardworking Indian woman who is often looked down on by her family because she cannot speak English fluently. When she travels alone to New York for a family wedding, she feels embarrassed and isolated due to the language barrier. This experience becomes a turning point in her life, motivating her to take steps toward change and self-growth.

Admission is free, but tickets are $5 for chai, samosas, and popcorn. Come for the movie, stay for the snacks, and enjoy a fun evening with friends!

Important: Registration in advance is required so we can plan snacks accordingly.

The movie will start at 7:00 PM sharp. Please arrive 5 minutes early to choose a seat, socialize, and grab some snacks. Tickets are $5 (+ Eventbrite fee, or $5 at the Gordon Neighbourhood House reception desk) and include popcorn, fresh chai, and a samosa. Please register in advance on Eventbrite.

Accessibility Details:

• This event will take place in Room 1 at Gordon Neighbourhood House (GNH), located in the centre of the West End at 1019 Broughton Street. Capacity is limited to 45 people.
• The West End is served by the Robson #5 and Davie #6 bus routes. The closest bus stop is 290 metres (3.5 blocks) from the event location.
• GNH is an accessible building, and all mobility devices and service/support animals are welcome.

• Snacks and light refreshments will be available.
• Gender-neutral and single-stall bathrooms will be available.
