In this SA History Festival event, come and see the West Croydon model railway in action at our Civic (Woodville) Library.
Model enthusiasts rejoice! We are excited to announce that we will be exhibiting an incredibly detailed model of the West Croydon Railway Station in 1949.
Based on years of research, interviews, and artefacts, this 5-year project captures the ‘Romance of the South Australian Railways’ and what the station and the surrounding suburb of West Croydon used to look like.
The layout takes you “back in time” when railways connected people, families, communities, and local economies. Over 1,500 hours have been committed to this project.
Every detail of this layout has been researched and made by hand to recreate the area as close as possible to what it was in this era.
Drop into our Civic (Woodville) Library during opening hours to view the display. Please note the exhibition will finish at 3pm on Sunday (5th) in the afternoon.
No bookings necessary.

The City of Charles Sturt would like to acknowledge the land we occupy today is the traditional lands of the Kaurna people and that we respect their spiritual relationship with their country. We also acknowledge the Kaurna people as the custodians of the greater Adelaide region and that their cultural and heritage beliefs are still as important to the living Kaurna people today.
