West Coast Swing Workshop — Let’s Keep Dancing!
Saturday, November 7, 11 am-3 pm
We’re excited to keep the West Coast Swing journey going! Whether you joined us for our October 10th workshop or you’re brand new to West Coast Swing (WCS), we’ve got a great afternoon planned to help you build skills, confidence, and a little more rhythm and flow.
If you joined us on October 10th, this is a great opportunity to continue building on what you’ve already learned! Depending on your comfort level, we recommend jumping in with either our WCS 100 or WCS 101 class and then progressing from there into and up to our 102 class.
Completely new to West Coast Swing? We recommend starting with the Introduction and working your way up through the classes that feel comfortable for you. Of course, you’re welcome to take all four classes or pick and choose a la carte!
Our Workshop Schedule
11:00 AM–12:00 PM | West Coast Swing Introduction
Let’s get moving! We’ll explore the 8-count basics of this versatile, expressive social dance, including passes and pushes to get you started on the dance floor. Passes and Pushes – a gentle, supportive introduction to West Coast Swing
12:00–12:45 PM | West Coast Swing 100
Ready to dive a little deeper? We’ll explore more rhythm, flow, and the role of triple steps in bringing your West Coast Swing to life. Passes and pushes with more footwork and connection. Aiming for a bit more accuracy, flow, and momentum
12:45 – 1:15 – Social dance practice
1:15–1:45 PM | West Coast Swing 101
Open, closed, and back around again! Learn how to transition between open and closed positions, giving you more variety and options to make your dancing more interesting.
2:00–2:45 PM | West Coast Swing 102
Let’s take a turn! We’ll work on some of the most popular spins and turns that build the foundation for West Coast Swing, with a little musicality mixed in for fun. Assumes prior experience (please know passes and triples) if you were with us for earlier classes in the day or have prior experience with WCS, please join us.
2:45–3:00 PM | Practice, Q&A, and Photos
Stick around to practice, ask questions, connect with fellow dancers, and capture a few memories from the afternoon!
