All are welcome to the 2024 West Auckland Interfaith Prayers for Peace event!
This hui brings together members of multiple West Auckland Faith groups, and the local community, who wish to join their hearts together for humanity.
It can be difficult to have hope for a peaceful world at times, especially when observing current international events. However, coming together in the name of love, harmony, and the sacred (whatever that means to you) can help to uplift us, and strengthen our hearts. This boost can re-invigorate us, in our hope and work for a more peaceful world, as well as bring joy and comfort in troubled times. It can also, from past experience, put us more in touch with a sense of divine purpose. We hope and pray that by creating greater harmony and ‘unity in diversity’ in our little microcosm, this can help to contribute to more of the same in the macrocosm!
Previous Prayers for Peace events have included many inspiring offerings including readings, chants and music, as well as, of course, heartfelt prayers. Plus perhaps most uplifting of all, is the reassurance that people from all religions and spiritual paths have the desire for peace deep in their hearts. So please come and celebrate this with us (whether you have a ‘formal’ Faith or not, and by whatever name your highest Truth goes by)!
This is a free community event, in honour of the annual Week of Prayer for World Peace. Refreshments will be served afterwards, so please stay and enjoy a cuppa and chat with some fellow West Auckland peace-lovers, from a wide variety of cultural backgrounds.
NB Our event this year is moving to the Holy Cross Catholic Church in Henderson, as our previous venue (the Chapel at Corban's) though very lovely, was getting too small for our purposes as numbers have grown through the year! We welcome this collaboration with the Church, and thank them very much for generously offering to host our gathering!
