Went to Lunch, Never Returned, Revisited

DeMark debuted “Went to Lunch” at Dell’Arte’s Mad River Festival to acclaim and toured the comedic show widely, performing all over Humboldt County, in San Francisco, at Theater X in Milwaukee, Brave Hearts Theater in Madison, at New York City’s Knitting Factory and many other theaters and venues in Oregon, Minneapolis and California.

The Wisconsin State Journal in Madison, WI named it the “best theatrical show in 1995. DeMark is a riveting performer with humorous and insightful stories to tell.” The St. Paul Pioneer Press wrote, “DeMark can drop funny lines with deft precision and just as smoothly draw on one’s heartstrings the next turn.”

For these shows DeMark will perform an edited version of “Went to Lunch, Never Returned”, acting out some of his favorite parts. There will be new stories and songs in the mix, also. Multi-instrumentalist Laura Black will provide musical accompaniment.

“I loved performing this show and am looking forward to revisiting it. I threw the kitchen sink into “Went to Lunch”, writing about my crazed journey in San Francisco’s temporary work world.” DeMark said. “I worked 22 jobs in 17 months and took a lot of notes during that wacked out time. I think people will relate to the struggle to find meaning in work, keep one’s dignity and a sense of humor when things go sideways. As a wise person once said, ‘Pain plus time equals humor.’”
