Trauma Informed Yoga Classes at Health For Life Counseling on Wednesdays from 5:30-6:30pm. Classes are led by Claire of Peace Love Claireity Yoga. $20 per person. Limit to 8 participants. Sign up is required for participation. The style of yoga is mindful vinyasa: movement that is deliberately meant to provoke the parasympathetic nervous system, encourage fascia plasticity, and includes somatic philosophies to expand one’s tolerance for sensations within the body and mind. Verbal cues and demonstrations by the instructor will provide participants with the choice to explore the suggested poses in ways that are accessible, comfortable, and supportive to one’s sense of well being. Moreover, participants may experience connectedness through the engagement of their own sense of strength and endurance.
Classes are suitable for any body— all experience levels, body shapes, genders, races, and sexual orientations are invited. This is a safe and inclusive environment for all.
*No physical assists will be offered and each individual’s space will be respected.
Class will be held inside of the Holistic Health Collective group room on Health For Life Counseling’s campus. The entrance is around the corner from Health For Life’s front door. Bathrooms and water dispensers are on site.
Please bring your own yoga mat, water bottle, and any gear that will support your experience (blocks, pillows, journal, blanket, etc.). Limited yoga mats are available to borrow for free upon request. To reserve a mat for class, please call Health For Life at 616-200-4433 ex. 1.

Trauma Informed Yoga instructors are trained to understand the impact of trauma on both the body and mind. The practice is conducted in a way that avoids re-triggering trauma responses. Therefore, it’s more focused on the internal experience rather than the external benefits, which still may be supportive to a participant who has experienced trauma.
These sessions are ideal for individuals to engage in mindfulness practices. For folx in talk therapy, this is a great way to help integrate sensations that can come to the surface from sessions and working through the bodily responses in a supportive space.
Attending classes also builds confidence to maintain personal wellness routines outside of therapy sessions. It is also proven to reduce anxiety, depression, and PTSD symptoms.
Please note that classes are non-refundable and non-negotiable in order to ensure commitment and consistency in the healing journey.
