This year's Artist in Residency winner is Antoinella Peterkin, a Fashion Desig n er , Educator, DJ, and Social Innovator. Born and raised in Baltimore City, she attended Baltimore City College High School. She graduated from Notre Dame of Maryland University, earning her bachelor's degree in communication arts with a minor in business.
Following her college career, she dedicated two years to the Americorps Program: Public Allies, where she apprenticed at local mentoring programs and schools. This experience laid the foundation for her mentoring program, a testament to her unwavering commitment to youth development.
2013, Antoinella founded the Fashion, Art, Mentoring, and Etiquette (FAME) Program for youth. This mentoring program allows youth to embrace their creativity and foster their talents while gaining the skills to succeed on the runway of life. She also invites business owners in the fashion and arts industry to share their journey and help guide our youth on their creative journey. Since starting FAME, Antinella has partnered with numerous schools, after-school organizations, and churches to help youth around the city embrace their creative identity.
Antoinella is a big advocate for individuality, and her quote to live by is by Ralph Emerson: “ Do not go where the path may lead, go instead where there is no path and leave a trail. “Her goal is to leave a trail and legacy that her students can follow and map out their road to success.
