Class Description
Ready to get a head start on gardening this spring? Looking to make your garden more unique?
In this class, you'll learn how to cut, bend, and weld metal rods to make your own custom garden trellis!
We'll walk you through making the outer trellis frame, then it'll be up to you to add infill, however you'd like.
This class is great for expressing both your artistic metalworking talents and your green thumb!
If you have some MIG or TIG welding experience, that's helpful, but this class is also great for beginners. Makes a great first OR second welding class.
Trellises will be roughly 30" wide x 52" tall. There's room for customization, but that's roughly the biggest size we can make in class.
Trellises will eventually rust, unless you paint them. Rust isn’t necessarily a problem–rusty metal doesn’t necessarily look out of place in a garden, and while rust will eventually erode the trellis completely, this process can take many years (and adds iron to your soil!). If you want to paint yours to delay rust, we recommend doing it soon after class, and using a spray paint or brush-on paint designed for metal. Painting won’t be covered in class.
If you're ready to have your garden looking unique and awesome this season, sign up to weld a trellis!
*Class environment: All people are welcome in this class and an active effort will be made to be inclusive to all people. This class will not tolerate sexism, ableism, racism, homophobia, or transphobia. Welding is for everyone
