Every year, the Bar-tailed Godwits (Kuaka) complete an astonishing 12,000 km non-stop journey from Alaska to New Zealand. Flying at an average speed of 55 km/h, they cover this distance in just 8-9 days. We think that’s worth celebrating! 🐦

Restoring Takarunga Hauraki invites you to join us in welcoming these incredible travelers with a community picnic and fun activities for all ages.

Bring your friends, family, and a picnic to enjoy. If you’d like, feel free to bring a plate to share at our communal picnic table—completely optional!

If you have any group games or musical instruments you would like to play with family and friends, bring those too.
