About this Event
Have you ever a walked a labyrinth? How about walking a labyrinth to the start of a new day, with candlelight and a sunrise? Or perhaps brought your day to a close by walking a labyrinth into the sunset?
Join Sarah Patterson, a self declared labyrinth seeker, as she hosts these events to create an experience of meditation, renewal and delight for all. Having walked numerous labyrinths throughout the states, Sarah is committed to sharing the wisdom of this ancient contemplative tool.
TIME: SUNRISE event will begin with a gathering by candlelight at 6:30am, a brief introduction to the labyrinth followed with an opening prayer. The invitation to walk the labyrinth will coincide with sunrise expected between 6:50am-7:10am.
SUNSET event will begin with a gathering at 4:30pm, followed with a brief introduction and opening prayer. Candles will line the center of the labyrinth for guests to take as they return back to the beginning. The invitation to walk the labyrinth will coincide with sunset expected between 4:45pm - 5:00pm
One can expect to walk the labyrinth in 30-60 minutes, depending upon pace and volume of guests.
PARKING: Parking is available on the property adjacent to the labyrinth off Pico Street (before turning onto Blue Mountain Court). Please park off Pico Street and not in front of or in the driveway of the residence on Blue Mountain Court.
The labyrinth is located at the residence of the Sisters of St. Benedict in Grand Terrace where Sr. Joan Sasse currently resides. It is a replica of the Chartres Cathedral labyrinth in Chartres, France, that still houses the stone labyrinth originally laid in the nave of the cathedral during the 13th century.
MISC: Please note there is no access to the residence of the Sisters of St. Benedict, nor access to restrooms, so please plan accordingly. In addition, this is in a residential neighborhood and thus it will be expected all guests will gather with a quieted and respectful disposition, especially for the SUNRISE gathering.
