THE SHORT VERSION: Lighthouse Rotary Club is bringing back the magic of the former Custer Fair in June 2025! Main Street Construction is (mostly) finished! Come enjoy a Main Street festival to celebrate both these awesome things. Live music, great local food and art will abound.
THE LONG VERSION:
The Lighthouse Rotary Club is proud to announce its intention to bring the spirit of the former Custer Fair back to Main Street in Evanston starting on June 28-29 of 2025. The “Rotary Clubs’ Main Street Fair” (working title) will be an annual two-day festival that includes live music, visual arts, street performers, great local food and a family friendly atmosphere. In addition, the hope is that most of the fair vendors will be artists, makers and entrepreneurs from Chicagoland and the North Shore.
In collaboration with the Main-Dempster Mile, Lighthouse Rotary Club will stage a mini “teaser” festival called Evanston Main Street Fall Fest on Sunday October 20, 2024. This mini fest will give residents a taste of what’s to come in June 28-29, 2025.
“It will be a smaller festival in Fall of 2024,” says Katherine Gotsick, Executive Director of the Main-Dempster Mile. “But the coolest thing is that it will be held on a new and improved Main Street. The Main Street Improvement Project will, after three long years of construction disruption, finally be completed. Main Street will be cleaner, safer, brighter and better than ever.”
Scheduled for Oct 20, 2024, Rotary Clubs’ Fall Fest will feature live music, an art market plus food and goods from local businesses and Evanston entrepreneurs. “It’s a celebration of Main Street ahead of the REAL celebration in June of 2025,” says Gotsick.
Importantly, this festival is where a name for the new annual June Festival will be chosen.
