BIOGRAPHIES
Takanori Okamoto violin
Takanori Okamoto is a violinist who has performed extensively throughout the UK as a soloist, chamber musician, and orchestral player. His performances have included solo recitals, violin-and-piano duo concerts, string quartet appearances, and orchestral engagements.
As a soloist, Takanori performed in London, Oxford, and Tetbury alongside pianist Lily Petrova. He also achieved success in international competitions, including winning Second Prize at the Tunbridge Wells International Music Competition in 2024.
In chamber music, Takanori served as first violinist of the Valegro Quartet, which was awarded Second Prize at the Janáček International Music Competition in 2025. The quartet also participated in the Oxford Chamber Music Festival, where its members received coaching from musicians of the Quatuor Ébène.
As an orchestral musician, Takanori performed with the London Sinfonietta as part of the Manson Ensemble at Queen Elizabeth Hall. He also served as leader of the student orchestra at the Royal Academy of Music in Duke’s Hall. He led an orchestra in a charity concert for Ukraine in London and performed in a side-by-side concert with the Nash Ensemble and the Czech Philharmonic Academy at Duke’s Hall.
Takanori studies at the Royal Academy of Music (now Bachelor of Music 4th year) under the guidance of Levon Chilingirian on a scholarship. During his studies, he received several awards, including the Harold Craxton Prize and the Duo Prize in 2025. He also presented two concerts at Leighton House with a variety of ensembles.
Weiling Zhou Piano
Weiling Zhou is a Chinese collaborative pianist specialising in the vocal repertoire of song and chamber music. She performs regularly in vocal recitals and was a member of the Academy Song Circle. In 2025, she was selected as a pianist for the Franz-Schubert-Institut in Austria, where she worked with leading artists in the field of Lied. She was a finalist in the 2025 Ashburnham English Song Awards with countertenor Zheng Jiang and a Song Easel Young Artist in 2026. Weiling has performed at venues including the Italian Cultural Institute, the Austrian Cultural Forum, and the Etcetera Theatre in London, as well as at Elvermosekoncerter and
Messiaskirken in Copenhagen, Denmark.
