Join Weeks Bay Reserve to remove invasive plant species along Fish River.
About this Event

Weeks Bay Reserve staff are looking for a few hardy volunteers to assist with the removal of the exotic invasive Taro plant (Colocasia esculenta) on the morning of October 2, 2021 (weather permitting).

Volunteers will meet at the Weeks Bay Reserve Tonsmeire Resource Center at 8:30 am and travel up river on the Explorer pontoon vessel to the work site. Once at the site, volunteers will disembark the vessel and walk into the fringing marsh and swamp to manually remove the Taro.

Work will be moderately strenuous, requiring getting on and off the vessel via ladder, hauling large plants and root balls to the vessel and getting very wet and muddy. If this sounds like fun to you please register here. We will be back to the dock no later than 11:30 am.
