Here's a brief overview of Ecstatic Dance:
~ Safe space for people to come together and go on a freeform movement journey through what's called a wave. The music starts out slow, builds to a peak and then drops back down to stillness.
~ Goal is to achieve a state of Ecstasy, where dancers feel connected to others and their emotions and expreience a meditative and happy state of mind.
~ There are almost no rules, but some guidelines include no shoes, no talking during the dance, and no drugs or alcohol.
~ Photography is not allowed unless you have consent to do so.
~ You may choose to dance alone or dance with others. I say begin by yourself, set an intention for you and the world. To dance with another, you will need their consent first.
Don't miss out on this opportunity to dance your heart out and connect with like-minded individuals. See you on the dance floor!

About Ania:
"Music and dance have been a part of my life ever since I can remember. My earliest memories are of me dancing in my room in my flowy skirts - moving to all types of music. At the age of five my parents signed me up to be a part of a professional dancing company in Ukraine and I was a part of it until the age of 12 when I immigrated to the States. Upon arriving here, my mom signed me up with a Ukrainian dance company here in Chicago. I couldn't wait to quit! I didn't want to disappoint my mom. So I quit at 18. Performing on stage just didn't resonate with me anymore. The structured movements, the sometimes hectic schedules, I didn't have my heart in it anymore. Life went on and I always kept dancing. In my home, while washing the dishes, at a party, a wedding, while pregnant, in a parking lot, on a boat, I mean everywhere! Only really in the last couple years I realized just how movement helped me heal and move through some of the hardest times in my life. I even landed a job I wanted once because I danced out my anxiety prior to leaving the house for the interview.
In February of 2020, right before the pandemic I stumbled upon Ecstatic Dance in Chicago while looking for something to do in the city. It was magical! I made a wish to host events like these. And then, the world shut down.
About ten months ago I immersed myself back into the world of Ecstatic Dance. I have been to events here in Chicago, Austin and New York. I began to remember how much I wished to do events just like these. To build a community. So with each trip, I got more and more inspired!
So here we are. You are a witness to the beginning of my weekly Ecstatic Dance sessions. And I am beyond excited!"
