Wee Wednesdays are designed for preschool and kindergarten-aged children. All classes include a hands-on activity, story, and tasty treat.
A $15 class fee covers supplies and snacks. Please plan to stay with your children. To enroll in these fun-filled classes, please call (507) 289-0022 or visit our website.
Class Sessions:
Wild Things
April 15th - 9:30am and 10:30am - Sargent’s North
Learn about morel mushrooms and wild rice. Kids will enjoy getting creative with these Minnesota natives.
The Legend Of The Lady Slipper
May 20th - 9:30am and 10:30am - Sargent’s North
Learn about Minnesota’s state flower and what makes it so special. Kids will create their very own poke art Lady Slipper.
Diving Into Minnesota
June 17th - 9:30am and 10:30am - Sargent’s North
How did our state fish get its name? Children will enjoy exploring our pond and learning about MN pond and lake life. We promise not to be too “loony”!
I Spy - On The Hunt
July 15th - 10:30am (ONE CLASS) - Sargent’s North
Join us for a scavenger hunt at Sargent’s Garden Center. We will explore and seek out nature’s treasures… and even hunt for agates.
The Rusty Patched Bumblebee
Aug. 19th - 9:30am and 10:30am - Sargent’s North
Bumblebees are a flower’s best friend. Learn how we can promote bumblebees and other pollinators in our gardens. Kids will make a bee home for their gardens.
Big Machines
Sept. 16th - 9:30am and 10:30am - Sargent’s North
Don’t miss this demo of the big machines we use to make beautiful landscapes! We will read the legend of Paul Bunyan and how he and Babe, the Blue Ox, shaped the land.
A Honey Of An Apple
Oct. 21st - 9:30am and 10:30am - Sargent’s North
Discover the story of Minnesota’s popular Honeycrisp apple. Your child will have fun making a scented apple and experimenting with apple string art.
Pining For Trees
Nov. 18th - 9:30am and 10:30am - Sargent’s on 2nd
Learn about the Norway Pine and why it makes a great state tree. Children will get to practice their brush painting skills and make some fancy art of their own.
My Wee Christmas Tree
Dec. 16th - 9:30am and 10:30am- Sargent’s on 2nd
What Minnesota traditions do you enjoy? Decorate your very own “wee” Christmas tree with oodles of sparkly, bright trimmings. This Wee Wednesday tradition will include a reading of Mr. Willowby’s Christmas Tree and a tree that lives well beyond the holidays.
