OREGON'S Wine Culture Is ALL About Its Cool Climate, Low Volume, Unique Terroir and Long Dry Summer Days

23 AVA's (Defined Winegrowing Regions) bring a delicious range of styles across the state. Willamette Valley 100 X 60 Miles with 12 Sub-AVA's packed into it because of the way the slowly receding glaciers dropped various soils and clays across the terrain. 6 more in the Southern area of the State and then 5 on the nothern border with Washington around the Columbia River Gorge.

Unlike its California neighbors almost all the vineyards are perched on hill & mountain (bigger hills) side, rather than on the valley floor. Highest Altitude vines are at 3,400 most all others are 1,200ft and below. Filberts & plums thrive in the heavy clay found across the base of the valley, but too wet for most vines.

Pinot Noir & Chardonnay are top grapes grown in Willamette, with richer Tempranillo, Syrah and Cabernets found in the northern & southern state districts.

Christian Cox will present a selection of six wines he has chosen to show us the breadth and style differences and to give us reasons for choosing Oregon when we are out for Dinner! Join us for another upbeat tasting of six wines and serving charcuterie family-style, with light snack too and always great conversations! 7 - 9:00 PM $75 + tax pp
