Wednesday Southeast DC Porch Fest Kickoff at Alejaibra’s House

I’m super excited to be the host location for this official Porchfest DC Southeast Edition kickoff event. The mayor has officially crowned Historic Anacostia as the Art and Culture District and to be chosen as the FIRST Historic Anacostia porch is rather awesome.

My home has contributed to the advancement of Black Folk East of the River historically by Blockbusting. It was our very Black AF presence on our front porch that helped changed the face of the community. I’m happy to be here nearly 80 years later continuing the work of my people right from the same from porch.
