Internationally acclaimed concert violinist Aska Maret teams up with local St. Louis pianist and composer Nick Schlueter for an electric and eclectic night of alternative jazz music.

THE ARTIST

Aska Maret is a Tokyo-born violinist, composer, and improviser whose performances are celebrated for their emotional depth, technical brilliance, and expressive artistry. A recipient of the 1998 Bessie Composition Award in New York, she has collaborated with acclaimed musicians, dancers, and theater productions around the world, led her ensemble Aska Strings, and served as a musical director for the Japan Foundation's Asian Fantasy Orchestra. Her unique musical voice blends classical training with a lifelong passion for improvisation and creative collaboration.

Nick Schlueter is a St. Louis-based pianist, composer, educator, and performer whose work spans jazz, classical, pop, and improvisational music. He has performed with artists including Pavlov's Dog, Charles Glenn, Corey Christiansen, and Dawn Weber, while his compositions and arrangements have been featured by ensembles and performers in the U.S. and abroad. In addition to teaching piano, theory, and songwriting, Nick is the founder of Dueling Hobbits Productions, bringing his creativity, versatility, and collaborative spirit to stages, classrooms, and audiences nationwide.

THE SPACE

The WEvent Space is a distinctive venue located in the heart of the Tower Grove South neighborhood, set within a beautifully restored church. Embracing the spirit of its historic roots, the space provides a laid-back, welcoming setting for a wide array of local live acts. Central to its mission is the WEConcert Series—an ongoing effort to reestablish the former church as a vibrant hub and gathering place for the community. Through music, art, and connection, WEvent Space invites all to be part of a shared creative experience in one of the neighborhood’s most unique venues.
