Website in a Week Workshop

This workshop will be broken into two sessions-- April 19th and 26th from 4-6pm both nights.

Are you a small business owner looking to build a well-designed website quickly and easily? In this workshop, you will learn the basics of the Squarespace platform, tips for creating copy that converts, managing content, editing pages, and implementing advanced features like e-commerce. Every step you need to create a fully functional website is covered in this workshop.

Whether you've already started building your site in Squarespace and just need some help to launch, or if your website is still just a hope and a dream-- this workshop will empower you with the knowledge to get it up and running.

This is a workshop for website beginners. No code or prior website building experience is necessary. There is some legwork you will need to do prior like selecting a template, gathering content, and more-- but we will walk you through it. This workshop may not be well suited for folks that need a complicated or very specific website. If that's what you need, we would suggest hiring a professional web developer.

Things to know/do before the workshop:

• Pick out and pay for your desired Squarespace template.
• Have 6 high resolution images representing your business.
• Have copy created for your Home page, About page, Contact page and Services page as well as your call to action button text and at least 12 high-resolution images picked out to potentially use on the site. (We will be talking through copy but you should be editing in the workshop-- not creating from square one or you won’t get as far.)
• Complete a strategy call with Lisa at least one week prior to the workshop to determine your goals for the workshop and what you need to still gather before the workshop to help it be the most successful for you
• Understand Squarespace is an all-in-on-platform so it can’t do everything you’ve ever imagined out of the box. We will talk through some custom code snippets but if you really truly NEED a more robust site-- this workshop is not for you.
• Understand we’re helping you learn how to add items to a shop (if you have a shop-- but not helping you load all items).
• Understand websites are never actually done-- you’ll always be updating and maybe adding so that’s why it’s helpful you know how to do those things.

My graphic design background has helped me have an eye for what works coupled with some tips for editing content and a Squarespace template I can help you get a workable web presence.
