About this Event

Workshop Description

This class is an introduction to textile arts, including weaving and plaiting. As students learn about textile art processes, they will also form a deeper understanding of the cultural and historical underpinnings of these techniques. Using disposed materials, such as paper, plastic, and fabrics, students will learn hands-on processes such as weaving and plaiting. After initial experimentation with these techniques, students are encouraged to push the boundaries of the media and create their own projects.

About Camilo
My artistic practice centers on the liberation and celebration of Queer Latinx communities . I challenge societal norms through painting, mixed media, and performance aiming to amplify marginalized voices and celebrate Queer culture while reclaiming Latin American traditions. My work serves as a call to action, urging us to challenge binary gender norms and envision a world where gender continues to evolve as a more hybrid and less rigid concept.
